Weekend Update – January 29

The Prince Albert Police Service responded to 193 calls for service over the weekend and arrested 38 people. The top two calls for service were for intoxicated persons (25) and disturbances (18).

File # 2018-2567: Impaired driving causing bodily harm

On Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:53 p.m. the Prince Albert Police Service was dispatched to a Reported Impaired Driver (RID) Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) on 2nd Avenue West and 28th.

Officers arrived on the scene of two trucks that both had significant damage. Parkland Ambulance also was on scene and transported three victims to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Witnesses report that a truck had been traveling in the northbound lane on 2nd Avenue West and had collided with the second truck which was parked on 2nd Avenue.

The driver of the first truck was brought to the police vehicle where an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered to test for sobriety which he failed.

The vehicle was towed and the suspect was brought back to the police station where he failed subsequent breathalyzer tests.

The 30-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm and exceeding .08. The suspect has since been released to make their first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court February 18, 2018.

File # 2018-2585: Impaired driver

On Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2:48 a.m. Prince Albert Police Service was dispatched to a MVA versus Pedestrian in the parking lot of a business on 15 Street West and 2nd Avenue West. The pedestrian was located with minor injuries. The vehicle had left the scene of the incident and was located by patrol driving erratically on 15 Street West. Officers conducted a Traffic Safety Act stop on the vehicle on the 600 Block of 15 Street West.

The female driver of the vehicle failed the Approved Screening Device (ASD) test for sobriety and was taken back to the police station where she exceeded the legal limit in breathalyzer tests.

The 25-year-old female from Prince Albert is charged with impaired driving and exceeding .08. The suspect has since been released and will make her first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on March 5, 2018.

File # 2018 - 2593: Drugs/Breach of Court Orders

On January 27, 2018 at 5:10 a.m. patrol members responded to a disturbance call at an apartment building on 100 Block 1100 Branion Drive.

An intoxicated male was located at the residence that was on conditions to not be at the residence and to reside in Southend.

The male was arrested for breaching his recognizance and brought back to the police station. Officers searched the male and located a baggie of cocaine on his person.

The 26-year-old male from Southend Saskatchewan is charged with attempting to resist arrest, possession of cocaine and four counts of being at large of his recognizance.

The suspect will make his first appearance in Prince Albert Police Service today.
