Another wave of CRA fraud calls hitting PA, Police ask public to remain cautious

The Prince Albert Police Service is again receiving an increased number of reports from residents of a phony CRA phone fraud. The Prince Albert Police Service would like to remind residents to take caution when providing personal financial information or sending money over the phone.

The police want to remind people that the CRA and other government organizations will not call you directly to ask you to send money to them over the phone or to gather your personal information over the phone such as your SIN number or other private information. They will also not ask you to send any kind of pre-paid cards or gift cards as a form of payment.

To report a phone fraud contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre online or toll free at 1-888-495-8501.
