Media Release – Second Degree Murder Charge

The Prince Albert Police Service has charged 20-year-old Kenny Morin with second degree murder, along with robbery (Information # 991125292). Morin is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.

Morin was originally arrested and charged with aggravated assault and robbery after police responded to an alley in the 200 Block of 9th Street East on March 15, 2020 for a complaint of a person down.

On arrival, police located a 61-year-old male suffering from serious injuries who was transported to hospital by Parkland Ambulance. The victim succumbed to his injuries on March 20, 2020 in a Saskatoon hospital.

The Prince Albert Criminal Investigation Division along with the Forensic Identification Unit continue to investigate. The investigation into this matter does not have police looking for any other suspects.

 

UPDATE – File 2020-8365

The 61-year-old male victim of a robbery and aggravated assault earlier this week has succumbed to his injuries in hospital. The man was assaulted in the 200 Block of Ninth Street East on Sunday, March 15.

The male charged in this file remains in custody and charges will be amended accordingly. The investigation in this matter does not have police looking for any other suspects.

The Prince Albert Police Service would like to thank the public for assisting police in locating video surveillance in relation to this file. Investigators are interested in hearing from anyone else who may have information related to this incident.

Note: An earlier release stated the male victim’s age as 60 years old. His correct age is 61.
