Intersection safety results from May Long Weekend

The Prince Albert Police Service hopes everyone had a fun and safe weekend over the May Long Weekend.

Members were out patrolling last weekend ensuring public safety and enforcing the Traffic Safety Act. Officers were focused on the Diefenbaker Bridge, Highway 11, and busy intersections within Prince Albert.

In total 44 tickets were issued and one vehicle impounded during the intersection safety blitz.

Some notable traffic infractions included 19 tickets for speeding, one ticket for passing an emergency vehicle, two tickets for unregistered vehicles, two no drivers license, three suspended drivers, 15 seatbelt infractions and one cell phone infraction.

There is a seasonal increase in traffic each year over the weekends and especially long weekends in the summer as residents and out-of-town visitors enjoy the northern lakes.

PAPS would like to remind motorists to slow down and have a safe and enjoyable summer.
