Weekend Update – September 3, 2018

Patrol officers had a steady weekend responding to 289 calls for service between Friday night and Monday morning. Officers made 54 arrests, 32 arrests were made on people for being intoxicated in a public place. The top three calls for service were intoxicated persons (41), disturbances (40) and evictions (27).

File # 2018-28904 / Possession of a Weapon

On September 1, 2018 at 9:30 p.m. patrol officers responded to a weapons complaint in the Unit Block of 13 Street West. The complainant told police that an unknown suspect was carrying a short handled axe.

Officers attended the area and located a male matching the description of the suspect. Officers approached the male who fled on a bicycle, refusing to talk to police. Officers utilized patrol vehicles to box in the suspect who was taken into custody. Officers located an axe with the handle cut short.

The 24-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and breach of court order (Info # 991063921). The accused will make his first court appearance on Tuesday morning in Prince Albert Provincial Court.

 

File # 2018-28927 / Impaired Driving

On September 2, 2018 just after 2:00 a.m. patrol officers attended to the intersection of 15 Street West and  9 Avenue West for a motor vehicle accident. On arrival police determined the accused disobeyed a red light, striking the East bound vehicle. The accused appeared to be impaired and failed a road side screening device test.

The 30-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with impaired driving and exceeding .08 (Info # 991063910). The accused will make his first court appearance on September 24, 2018 in Prince Albert Provincial Court.

There were no injuries as a result of the collision.
