Weekend Update – May 22, 2018

Prince Albert Police Service had a busy weekend, responding to 345 calls for service between Friday evening and Monday morning. Officers made 66 arrests. The top calls for service were 59 intoxicated persons and 45 disturbance calls.

File # 2018-14721: Assault With A Weapon

On May 18, 2018 just before 1 p.m. Prince Albert Police Service was dispatched to a weapons complaint at a residence on the 1900 Block of 2nd Avenue.

A family dispute led to a female stabbing a male in the arm. The male victim was transported to hospital and the female suspect was arrested.

A 16-year-old female youth from Prince Albert is charged with aggravated assault (Information #991052185).

The female suspect has since been released from custody and will make her next court appearance May 22, 2018 at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

File #2018-14817: Weapons

Shortly after midnight on May 19, 2018 the Prince Albert Police Service responded to a residence on the 400 Block 11 Street East on a call of several victims being stabbed.

Three male victims were located with stab wounds and transported to hospital. The knife used in the stabbing was located in the residence.

Officers set up a containment of the area and Police Service Dog (PSD) Daxa with handler Constable Bighetty were deployed to track the suspect who had fled prior to police arrival. The male was tracked to a nearby back alley and attempted to flee on foot from police. He attempted to hide in another residence and was arrested.

A 19-year-old from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan is charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of assault (Information #991052223).

The suspect will make their first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.

File # 14918: Break and Enter:

On May 19, 2018 at 5:32 p.m. Prince Albert Police Service received a call that a male had broken into a business compound at 300 Block 17 Street West.

The male was located inside the compound. He attempted to jump the fence and escape and was promptly arrested by police.

The male was searched and located on his person included tools to commit a break-and-enter.

A 27-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with one count of attempting to break and enter and one count of having in his possession instruments suitable for the purpose of breaking into the business premise (Information #991052261).

The suspect will answer to charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.

File #14974: Robbery / MVA

At 1:42 a.m. on May 20, 2018 responded to a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA)  that resulted from a robbery in progress in the 400 Block of 26 Street East.

A cab driver called in that two males in his cab had assaulted him in the vehicle attempting to rob him. He drove into a parked car while being assaulted.

Other cab drivers arrived and helped the victim restrain a male suspect involved in the assault until officers arrived.

The male suspect was arrested on scene by officers and transported to the police station.

The K9 Unit attempted to track the second suspect but he was not located.

The 27-year-old from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan is charged with assault with intent to steal (Information #991052276).

The male suspect will make his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.
