Weekend Update – February 4, 2019

The Prince Albert Police Service responded to 197 calls for service over the weekend and made 31 arrests. Eighteen of the 31 arrests were for people being intoxicated in a public place. The top two calls for service were for eviction’s (26) and intoxicated persons (22).  

File # 2019-3182 / Theft

Police are trying to identify suspects after they responded to a theft from a delivery truck on February 1, 2019.

At 10:30 a.m. on February 1, 2019, a delivery truck pulled to the rear of a business in the 200 Block of 32nd Street West. The driver entered the business. While inside the business, two unknown suspects entered the delivery truck and are observed on video throwing cartons of cigarettes into a near garbage bin from the delivery truck and fleeing the scene. At 11:07 a.m., unknown suspects drive up to the garbage bin in a white SUV and recover the cartons of cigarettes.

Police are unable to determine if the suspects are male or female and or the make and model of the SUV.

File # 2019-3364 / possession of a weapon

On February 3, 2019 just before 4:00 p.m. while on patrol an officer observed two males in the 400 Block of 15 Street East. The lone officer approached the males, as one of the subjects was believed to be reported as a missing person.

Upon further investigation, it was confirmed neither subjects were missing but one subject had outstanding warrants and was arrested. While searching the subject officer’s located, a loaded sawed off 22-caliber firearm concealed in the subject’s waistband. The firearm was seized without incident.

The second male told officers that he had brass knuckles on him. Officer searched the male and located the brass knuckles.

A 16-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with numerous firearm related charges and breach of court order (Info # 991080266) and will appear in Provincial Court today.

A 17-year-old male from Prince Albert is facing numerous weapons charges (Info # 991080265) and will appear in Provincial Court today.
