Public Advised to Watch for Contractors Checking Power Poles

The Prince Albert Police Service is advising the public about private contractors working in the city checking power poles for safety or structural concerns. Contractors are working on behalf of SaskPower and will be operating side-by-side utility vehicles within city limits.

Bylaw No. 11 of 2017 prohibits the use of motorized vehicles, such as UTVs, in public places within city limits, but SaskPower has received special permission from Prince Albert Police Chief Jon Bergen to conduct the work. Drivers cannot exceed 20 kilometres per hour while in the city.

It is expected the contractors will be working in the city for the next few weeks.

SaskPower is currently reviewing the structural integrity of more than 100,000 power poles in communities across the province as part of their Wood Pole Program. For more information about SaskPower’s program, please click here.
