The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit has charged a Saskatoon man with child pornography offences in relation to an investigation into the online accessing of child pornography through a popular online social media application. On July 20th members of the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Saskatoon that was identified as the location where the offences were occurring. Several electronic devices were seized for further forensic analysis.
A 50-year-old male from Saskatoon was arrested at the scene and has been charged with;
Possession of Child Pornography – Sec. 163.1 (4) C.C.
He will be appearing in Saskatoon Provincial Court Wednesday morning.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of the Provincial Coordinator S/Sgt Shawn Stubbs and investigators from the Prince Albert Police Service, RCMP, Regina Police Service, and the Saskatoon Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
