On December 6, 2017 at approximately 5:53 p.m. patrol members were dispatched on multiple calls of a male with a machete running eastbound on 28 Street from 6 Avenue.

Police spoke with the victim, who was walking along 800 Block of 28 Street East delivering flyers, when he was approached by the male suspect with a machete and three other suspects. The victim was struck twice with the machete before escaping to a nearby business to phone police.

Officers set up a containment of the area and located the suspect on Branion Drive heading towards Crescent Heights Arena. The suspect fled from officers on foot. Patrol officers pursued and arrested the suspect. Officers also seized a machete.

A 17-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with intent to steal personal property, aggravated assault, committing assault to use a weapon, committing an assault, intent to commit an assault, intent to commit an offense with his face masked, committing mischief by willfully damaging property, possession of a weapon a machete for a purpose dangerous to the public peace and resisting a peace officer.

The suspect will answer to charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.
