On August 14, 2022, an assault took place involving two residents at a care home in the 700 Block of 28^th St. East in Prince Albert. As a result, an 85-year-old woman was transported by Parkland Ambulance to the Victoria Hospital.

Prince Albert Police were notified of the assault on August 17, 2022 and attended to the Victoria Hospital, where the victim remained in serious condition, and initiated an investigation. On August 19, 2022, the victim passed away due to injuries received during the assault five days prior.

A 76-year-old woman has been identified as a suspect, however no arrests have been made while the Prince Albert Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate. Investigators are liaising with the Office of the Chief Coroner, as well as the Crown Prosecutor’s Office.

Police do not believe there is a danger to the public at this time. Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
