Media UPDATE – Homicide 2021-16466

UPDATE – Prince Albert Police can confirm that the death of a 26-year-old man Tuesday evening has been deemed a homicide. The victim has been identified as Braden Herman and an autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday, May 13, 2021 in Saskatoon.

Prince Albert Police have charged Bernie Herman (DOB 05-13-1968), a 32-year-member of the RCMP, with First Degree Murder. The victim and the accused in this file are known to each other, but are not related.

The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) of the Prince Albert Police Service continues to investigate. In addition to a wooded area of the city, police have also secured a vehicle and a residence in the 3300 Block of Dent Crescent in Prince Albert as part of this investigation.

The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at Prince Albert Provincial Court Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 10 a.m. [Information 991160759]

File 2021-16466 – Prince Albert Police are investigating the death of a 26-year-old man Tuesday evening and have taken a serving member of the Prince Albert RCMP into custody in connection with this incident.

In the early evening on Tuesday, May 11, Prince Albert Police were called to a wooded area within the city for a report of a deceased male. The death is being investigated as a homicide and the arrested RCMP officer was not on duty at the time of the incident.

The Prince Albert Police Service has requested the appointment of an independent observer to oversee this investigation as per Section 91 of The Police Act 1990, Saskatchewan.

The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) of the Prince Albert Police Service is leading this investigation. The officer and the male victim are known to each other.

Police continue to investigate and more information will be released as it becomes available.
