Weekend Update – October 9, 2018

Patrol officers had a busy weekend responding to 329 calls for service between Friday night and Monday morning. Officers made 69 arrests. The top two calls for service were 60 disturbances and 58 intoxicated persons.

Reported Impaired Driver (RID) – 2018-33012

On October 6, 2018, the Prince Albert Police Service was dispatched at 7:04 a.m. for a Reported Impaired Driver (RID) complaint of a vehicle cutting off other vehicles on 2nd Avenue West and 15th Street to Marquis Road. The vehicle was located by patrol and a vehicle traffic stop was conducted on 1900 2nd Avenue West.

There was evidence of alcohol consumption in the vehicle and the driver appeared visibly impaired.The male driver was arrested by officers and taken to the police station where breathalyzer tests were conducted which he failed.

A 34-year-old male from Regina, Saskatchewan is charged with impaired driving of a motor vehicle and exceeding .08.

The suspect has been released and will make their first court appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on November 19, 2018.

Impaired/MVA – 2018-33158

On October 7, 2018 at 8:50 a.m. the Prince Albert Police Service was dispatched to the area of 1800 Block 17 Street West on complaint of a motor vehicle hit-and-run.  It was reported that a blue truck hit two vehicles and then left the scene traveling eastbound towards MacArthur Drive.

The truck was located by officers parked on the 500 Block of MacArthur Drive with significant front-end damage. Two males were seen walking away from the vehicle and were stopped and questioned by officers. One of the males admitted to being the driver and appeared visibly intoxicated.

The male suspect was arrested and taken to the police station where breathalyzer tests were conducted which he failed.

The 18-year-old male from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, exceeding .08, care and charge or control of a motor vehicle involved in an accident with intent to escape.

The suspect male has since been released and will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on November 26, 2018 (#Information 991067713).
