Weekend Update – October 29, 2018

Patrol officers had a busy weekend responding to 255 calls for service between Friday night and Monday morning. Officers made 41 arrests. The top two calls for service were for intoxicated persons (47) and disturbances (23).

2018-35620 – Weapons Call

On October 27, 2018 at 8:09 a.m. Prince Albert Police Service patrol responded to a weapons call on the 2800 Block of 6 Avenue East.

A cab driver was threatened by an alleged intoxicated male customer with a knife who demanded money and then fled.

Officers located the male on foot traveling eastbound on 29 Street East and successfully arrested the male. Officers seized a large knife from the suspect.

A 28-year-old male from Wollaston Lake, Saskatchewan is charged with stealing money while armed with a weapon, possession of a weapon a knife, for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, not being authorized to carry a concealed weapon, knowingly uttering or causing a threat to an officer causing bodily harm, and breach of recognizance to keep the peace and be of good behavior (Information # 991069946).

The suspect will answer to charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.

2018-35765 – Weapons Call

On October 28, 2018 at 1:49 a.m. the Prince Albert Police Service was dispatched to a weapons call at a business on the 3200 Block of 6 Avenue East. A male suspect was located outside the business by officers who attempted to flee. Officers pursued him on foot and arrested him on Southwood Drive. A knife and screwdriver was located on the suspect.

A 22-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with possession of a weapon (a meat cleaver) for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, not being authorized under the firearms act to carry a concealed weapon (a meat cleaver and a screw driver) and resisting a peace officer engaged in the lawful execution of his duty by not complying with officer commands and running away from police.

The suspect will answer to charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court today (Information #991069980).

Break-and-enter – 2018- 35786

On October 28, 2018 at approximately 8:44 a.m. the Prince Albert Police Service responded to the 700 Block of 12 Street West for a break-and-enter of a shed in progress call. When police arrived, they found damage to the shed in the unsuccessful break-and-enter and the suspect had fled. He was located by officers attempting to hide in an apartment porch on the 400 Block of River Street West and arrested.

Located on the suspect was vehicle keys, which upon further investigation were found to belong to a recovered stolen truck that was originally stolen out of Nipawin and had already been recovered by police and was in the City of Prince Albert compound at the time of his arrest.

The 26-year-old male from Red Earth, Saskatchewan is charged with break-and-enter of a shed, obstruction of a peace officer in the lawful execution of his duty by providing a false name, possession of stolen property not exceeding $5,000 and being bound by a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behavior (Information #99107005).

The suspect will answer to charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.
