Weekend Update – March 11, 2019

The Prince Albert Police Service had a busy weekend responding to 230 calls for service and making 29 arrests between Friday evening and Monday morning. The top two calls for service were for intoxicated persons (31) and disturbances (30).

File # 2019-6452 / Assist Fire

On March 8, 2019 at approximately 11:20 p.m., patrol officers responded to a residence in the 500 Block of 5th Street East to assist Prince Albert Fire Control. On arrival, officers observed a fire in the basement of the residence as well as the garage on fire. No one was in the residence on police arrival.

Prince Albert Police Identification Unit along with Prince Albert Fire Investigators continue to investigate the cause of the fire.

File # 2019-6484 / Attempted Murder

On March 9, 2019 just after 7:00 a.m., patrol officers attended to a business in the 3600 Block of 5th Avenue East for a complaint of an assault. On police arrival, a male identified himself as the accused and was arrested without incident. Police located a 48-year-old female suffering from stab wounds. Parkland Ambulance transported the female to Victoria Hospital in stable condition.

A 57-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault (Info # 991083797). The accused will make his first court appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.

The victim knows the accused and this incident is not believed to be random.

Three people have been charged with impaired driving and exceeding .08 after three separate incidents over the weekend.

On March 8, 2019 just before 10:00 p.m., police initiated a vehicle stop in the 600 Block of Marquis Road East after receiving a complaint of an impaired driver. A 26-year-old female from Muskoday has been charged with impaired driving, exceed .08, and will make her first court appearance on March 21, 2019.

On March 9, 2019 just after 11:00 p.m., a patrol officer initiated a traffic stop in the Unit Block of 13th Street West after observing driving actions consistent with impaired driving. A 46-year-old male from Duck Lake has been charged with impaired driving, exceed .08, and will make his first court appearance on April 10, 2019.

On March 11, 2019 just after 2:00 a.m., while on routine patrol, officers initiated a traffic stop in the 200 Block of 8th Street East after observing driving actions consistent with impaired driving. A 29-year-old male from Timber Bay has been charged with impaired driving, exceed .08, and will make his first court appearance on April 10, 2019.
