Weekend Update – July 23, 2018

Prince Albert Police Service had a busy weekend, responding to 346 calls for service between Friday evening and Monday morning. Officers made 60 arrests. The top calls for service were for intoxicated calls (46) and disturbances (38).

File # 2018 – 23199: Assault causing bodily harm

On July 20, 2018 at 9:36 p.m. the Prince Albert Police Service attended to an assault call at a bar on the 1400 Block of 6 Avenue East.

Staff had attempted to remove a patron from the business who was involved in an altercation outside the business when he then assaulted two staff members punching and pushing them.

The suspect had left the scene before police arrival but reappeared a short time later and was then arrested by officers.

The 30-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with two counts of committing assault and being at large of his recognizance to not possess or consume alcohol.

The suspect will make his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.

File # 2018 - 23395: Excessive Speeds

A vehicle travelling excessive speeds in a 40 km / hr. zone resulted in over a $1,000 ticket and a 7-day vehicle tow and impoundment.

On July 21, 2018 at approximately 9:42 p.m. a Prince Albert Police Service patrol unit radar clocked a vehicle travelling on the 900 Block of 7 Street East at a speed of 110 km/hr in a 40 km/hr zone. A Traffic Safety Act stop was conducted and a ticket was issued for excessive speeds of over 50 km/hr the speed limit and the vehicle was seized and towed for a 7 day impound.

File # 2018 – 23310: Break and Enter

On July 21, 2018 at 11:42 a.m. the Prince Albert Police Service attended to a basement suite on the 600 Block of 4 Street East.

The male suspect was known to the complainants and this is the second time they had broken down the door and illegally entered the suite.

Police located the male inside the suite and he was arrested.

The 23-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with break-and-enter causing mischief.

The suspect will answer to charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.

File # 2018 – 23352 – Assault

On July 21, 2018 at 4:28 p.m. the Prince Albert Police Service was dispatched to an assault complaint at a residence on the 900 Block River Street West.

A female victim was bleeding from the head at the residence and alleged that another female who at the residence was in a dispute with her outside and picked up a brick and repeatedly hit the victim in the head.

A 30-year-old female suspect at the residence was arrested by police for assault. The suspect, from Prince Albert, will answer to charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance and treated for her injuries.
