The Prince Albert Police Service had a steady weekend responding to 221 calls for service and making 34 arrests. The top three calls for service were disturbances (22), intoxicated persons (19) and evictions (15).
File # 2018-27884 / MVA
On Friday August 24, 2018 at 11:35 a.m. patrol officers responded to the area of McArthur Drive for a motor vehicle accident. Witnesses told police a van hit a tree and a male and female were walking away from the van involved in the accident.
Patrol members attended the area and located a male and female matching the description of the people in the van at the time of the accident. Officers confirmed both suspects were intoxicated and the male was driving at the time of the incident. The male was arrested for impaired driving. Further investigation determined that the van involved in the accident was a stolen vehicle.
The 24-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with impaired driving, refusing to supply a breath sample, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and possession of stolen property (Info # 991063083).
The accused will make his first court appearance today.
File # 2018-27925 / Resisting Arrest
On Friday August 24, 2018 at 3:45 p.m. while on routine patrol officers observed a male on a bicycle acting suspicious and attempting to avoid police. A patrol officer spoke with the male at 5th Avenue East and 8 Street East. The male provided a false name to police and then suddenly ran on foot. Officers pursued the suspect on foot and located him in a yard in the 400 Block of 8th street East. While arresting the suspect he resisted arrest and bit an officer on the arm. The suspect was handcuffed and identity confirmed.
The 23-year-old male from Prince Albert was confirmed to have outstanding warrants and is charged with obstruction, assault causing bodily harm, resisting arrest and breach of court order (Info # 991063107). The accused will make his first court appearance today.
File # 2018-27958 / Structure Fire
On August 24, 2018 just after 11:00 p.m. officers responded to a residence in the 1600 Block of 15 Street West for a structure fire. On arrival officers observed the detached garage on fire and Prince Albert Fire Dept. battling the flames. Police confirmed no one was at the residence at the time of the incident.
Prince Albert Police Service and Prince Albert Fire Dept. continue to investigate to determine the cause of the fire.
File # 2018-28121 / Resisting Arrest
On August 26, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. a patrol officer responded to a liquor establishment in the 3400 Block of 2nd Avenue West as an intoxicated suspect had assaulted another male. The accused was un-cooperative with police on arrival and resisted arrest. Additional officers attended scene and the accused was handcuffed without further incident.
The 41-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with assault and resisting arrest (Info # 991063203). The accused will make his first court appearance today.
