Weekend Update – April 30, 2018

Prince Albert Police Service had a busy weekend, responding to 335 calls for service between Friday evening and Monday morning. Officers made 65 arrests. The top calls for service were 52 calls of intoxicated persons and 48 disturbance related calls.

File # 2018-11864: Robbery, other offensive weapon

On April 26, 2018 at 10:41 p.m. Prince Albert Police Service responded to a robbery complaint at a business on 2900 Second Avenue West.

A female complainant had been robbed of a her purse containing a large quantity of cash by a male suspect with a knife. The female had won a large amount of cash at a VLT in the bar and a male suspect followed her outside when she was leaving and threatened her with a knife. The male physically took the females purse from her and fled.

The PAPS K9 Unit and Patrol Unit were brought in and searched the area but could not locate the suspect.

The suspect was located later that night by patrol at a bar on 600 Block Marquis Road East. He fled the establishment and was located by patrol on 6 Avenue East attempting to hide in bushes.

The suspect was apprehended peacefully by officers and arrested. Officers located the knife in the bushes where the suspect was hiding. The purse was not located.

When being processed in cells the suspect was uncooperative with officers and spit on an officer adding a further charge of assault of a peace officer.

The 29-year-old male from Regina, Saskatchewan is charged with stealing personal property while armed with an offensive weapon, assault of a peace officer engaged in the lawful execution of his duty, have in his possession a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, obstruction of a peace officer by refusing to provide his name. File # 2018 - 12025: Theft of a Motor Vehicle

On April 27, 2018 at 8:34 p.m. Prince Albert Police Service received a call for a theft of motor vehicle that had just occurred in the 100 Block of 23rd Street East.

A delivery driver had left the vehicle running to deliver a food order when an unknown male entered his vehicle and drove off.

Later that evening, at 10:40 p.m. Patrol located the stolen vehicle behind an apartment building on 900 Central Avenue. The vehicle was towed and is being processed for evidence. The file is under investigation.
