Weapons Charges - March 5, 2019

   On March 4, 2019 just before 3:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to the area of the Gateway Mall for a male that had just threatened mall security with a machete and fled on foot.

Patrol officers flooded the area and located a male matching the description of the suspect at 3^rd Avenue West and 14^th Street West. The suspect was arrested without incident. Police located a machete on the arrested subject when searched.

A 27-year-old male from Montreal Lake is charged with assault with a weapon and breach of court order (Info# 991083254). The male will make his first court appearance today.  

File # 2019-6059

   On March 4, 2019 at 11:35 p.m. patrol officers responded to the 1200 Block of 18 Street West for a complaint of a male in possession of a firearm. Officers were advised that the suspect had threatened the complainant with the firearm. Officers attended the area, located and arrested the male without incident. Officers seized a loaded sawed off shotgun.

A 29-year-old male from Regina is charged with numerous firearm related charges and breach of court order (Info # 991083269). The accused will appear in Provincial Court today.

The complainant knew the accused and this was not a random act.
