Weapons Charges – February 5, 2019

File # 2019-3417 / Possession of Weapons

On February 4, 2019 at approximately 3:30 p.m., while on routine patrol a lone officer observed a male known to have outstanding warrants.  The officer approached the male in the Unit Block of 12th Street East. The suspect fled on foot and the officer pursued advising the suspect he was under arrest for warrants. The suspect gave up after running approximately one block. The suspect was arrested on his outstanding warrants for carrying a concealed weapon. While searching the suspect police located a knife, machete and can of bear spray.

A 21-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with numerous weapons related offences and breach of court order (Info # 991080401).  The accused will make his first court appearance in Provincial Court today.

File # 2019-3438 / Assault with a Weapon

On February 4, 2019 at 8:00p.m., patrol officers responded to a disturbance at a business in the 1500 Block of 2nd Avenue West. On arrival, officers spoke with staff who described three suspects had entered the store and were causing a disturbance. When staff confronted the suspects, an unknown male produced a large knife and threatened staff. The suspects than fled on foot. Patrol officers followed footprints in the snow to a residence in the 500 Block of 18th Street West. Officers entered the residence and arrested two accused who matched the description given by the witnesses.

Two 23-year-old males from Prince Albert are charged with assault with a weapon and will make their first court appearance today (Info # 991080415).

No staff members received any injuries.
