The Prince Albert Police Service is inviting the public to ‘shake a paw’ one last time with Police Service Dog (PSD) Daxa on her last day of work Thursday,December 20, 2018.

Daxa has served the Prince Albert Police Service alongside her police partner Constable Bighetty for the past five years. During her time at the Service she has been deployed over 500 times, has caught over 200 suspects and assisted in solving many crimes. She has worked alongside our members, protecting us and the citizens of Prince Albert.

“Daxa has done an amazing job and is definitely one of a kind. She will definitely have a relaxed and joyful retirement,” said Constable Bighetty. Daxa will continue to live with Cst. Bighetty and his family in retirement.

In 2018, Daxa was voted public favourite police officer in the Best of the Best (BOB) Awards.

The K9 Team (Cst. Bighetty and Daxa) were also recognized with awards earlier this month. They received the St. Johns Life Saving Award for assisting the RCMP in locating a near frozen male in frigid temperatures. They also received the RCMP Commendation Award for going above and beyond on the call.

A retirement party will be held for Daxa at the Alfred Jenkins Fieldhouse, come-and-go from 3-5 pm, Thursday, December 20. All public are welcome to attend.
