Media Release – Prince Albert Police Service Warning Public About CRA Telephone Scam

The Prince Albert Police Service has received numerous calls about a telephone scam involving Social Insurance Numbers.

Numerous residents in our community have received calls with a recorded message purportedly from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The recording asks residents to “Press 1” to speak with administration about your personal Social Insurance Numbers being used on an arrest warrant or for other purposes.

This is a scam. Residents are advised to hang up and report the scam online to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Anyone who has been a victim of fraud should report it to the Prince Albert Police Service. A reminder that frauds can be reported online through our website at www.papolice.ca.
