Media Release – Police Member Charged with Unlawfully Being in a Dwelling House

A 16-year member of the Prince Albert Police Service has been charged with one count of being unlawfully in a dwelling house following an investigation into an incident on April 16, 2021.

The police officer was off duty at the time of the incident.

On April 16, 2021, patrol officers responded to a call for service at a residence in the city. Following this incident, the police service immediately initiated an investigation and notified the Public Complaints Commission (PCC).

Following the incident, the officer was issued a 30-day suspension under Section 53 (1) of The Police Act, 1990. Upon expiry of the suspension, the member was reassigned to non-operation administrative office duties.

The investigative file was reviewed by senior Crown officials and a charge has been recommended.

Cst. Darcy Bear appeared before a Justice of the Peace this week and will make his next court appearance on July 14, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Prince Albert Provincial Court. [Information 991164446]

As this matter is now before the courts, the police service will have no further comment at this time.
