Officers were on scene within minutes, and confronted the male inside the store who held a large knife to his neck with blood on the floor surrounding him. There were a large number of customers inside the business and in close proximity to the male. The male refused to comply with police commands to drop the knife and police deployed a Conductive Energy Weapon (CEW) in order to effect arrest. The male was safely taken into custody and transported to the Victoria hospital where he was treated for a minor self-inflicted injury.
A 34-year-old man is facing one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public in relation to this incident.
