Crime Stoppers month is designed to gain public awareness around the program and help educate the public on how they can get involved to safely and securely help police organizations reduce crime in their community.
Crime Stoppers encourages people to call the Prince Albert Police Service through the confidential Crime Stopper Hotline – a confidential, dedicated line with information to solve any crimes already committed or those about to occur. Crime Stoppers can take information 24 hours a day and does not require tipsters to identify themselves or to testify in court.
A reward of up to $2,000 is offered to anyone providing information, which leads to the arrest and conviction of a crime. Rewards can be made for information leading to the recovery of stolen property, the seizure of illegal drugs, or an arrest on an outstanding warrant.
Anyone with information on a crime in the Prince Albert region is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or the Prince Albert Police Service directly at (306) 953-4222.
Prince Albert Crime Stoppers received 540 tips in 2017 and paid out $5,735.00 in reward money. Since its inception in Prince Albert in 1986, Prince Albert Crime Stoppers has received 9,957 tips and paid out $32,985.00 in reward money.
Prince Albert Crime Stoppers is a coalition between Prince Albert Police Service, the media, and is operated by a volunteer board.
