The Prince Albert Police Service responded to 266 calls for service over the weekend and arrested 55 people. The top two calls for service were for disturbances (45) and intoxicated persons (41).
File 2018-1779: Possession of Weapons
On Thursday, January 18, 2018 at approximately 11:24 p.m. officers observed a suspect male leaving a residence on 700 Block 12 Street West. Officers questioned the male and found that he had an outstanding warrant for breaching his conditional supervision order and was arrested. Officers located on the suspect a knife, and a 'ninja claw' (nails on a string used to wrap around hands in a fist fight).
The suspect is charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for the purpose of danger to the public peace, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, and obstructing an officer in carrying out his duties by providing a false name.
The 18-year-old male from Prince Albert will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court today. (Information #99103829)
File 2018-2073: Aggravated Assault
At 2:51 a.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2018 officers arrived at a hotel on the 3600 Block of 2nd Avenue West to remove an intoxicated person from the premises.
When officers arrived they located on the 2nd Floor of the hotel two victims that had been stabbed by the intoxicated person. A male was injured in the back and head area and the female was injured in the hand.
The suspect was related to the male victim and they had an argument in a hotel room which resulted in a physical altercation and escalated with the suspect stabbing the male with a kitchen knife. The female was injured by trying to intervene. The male suspect then left the hotel.
Police Service Dog Daxa with Constable Bighetty began a track of the suspect who was located hiding between a building and a shed on the 3100 Block of 4 Avenue West. The suspect was arrested without incident.
The 22-year-old male from Shoal Lake First Nation, Saskatchewan is charged with two counts of aggravated assault (Information #991038525).
The suspect will make his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.
