Prince Albert Police Service had a busy weekend, responding to 310 calls for service between Friday evening and Monday morning. Officers made 50 arrests. The top calls for service were 55 intoxicated persons and 36 disturbance calls.
File #19632: Stolen Vehicles Recovered
Police recovered a stolen truck, trailer, two sea-doos, an ATV, and a BBQ during a traffic stop early Sunday morning.
At approximately 2:36 a.m. on Sunday, June 24, Patrol members observed a suspicious truck pulling two sea-doos, and small ATV in a trailer and a BBQ in the back of the truck, cross the bridge into the City limits on 2nd Avenue West.
The vehicle was pulled over briefly by officers but when asked for registration sped away. The vehicle was followed by officers through the city for a distance before it reached Muir drive and 17th Avenue, at which time the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
Officers engaged in a foot pursuit of the male and caught up to the male in a nearby field and brought him physically under control and arrested him.
The 44-year-old male from Melfort, Saskatchewan is charged with two counts of stolen property under $5,000 and one count of stolen property over $5,000, obstruction of a peace officer in the execution of his duty, operating a motor vehicle attempting to evade officers, operating a motor vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public and being at large of his undertaking (Information #991056217).
The suspect will answer to charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.
