At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police were dispatched to a report of a man attempting to break into a residence in the 500 Block of 22nd Street East. En route to this call for service, police were made aware that an off-duty officer had been confronted by a man with a knife outside a nearby business that matched the description of the suspect in the initial call. The off-duty member was not injured and was able to pull another man and a young child inside the business and block the door before the suspect fled.
Officers responded to the area and located the suspect outside in the 500 Block of 20th Street East. He was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
Wallace Hunt, from the Little Red River First Nation, is facing several charges including, assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, and assaulting a peace officer. Hunt, 29, appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court Wednesday morning. [Information 991223005]
