The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a Shaunavon man with a possession of child pornography offence in relation to an investigation into the online accessing of child pornography through a popular online social media application. On September 14th, members of the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Shaunavon. Several electronic devices were seized for further forensic analysis. Evidence was located on the devices.
A 25-year-old male from Shaunavon was arrested today and has been charged with;
Possession of Child Pornography – Sec. 163.1 (4) C.C.
He was released by a Justice of the Peace in Shaunavon and will be appearing in Provincial Court November 4th. His name is not being released at this time.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of the Provincial Coordinator S/Sgt. Shawn Stubbs and investigators from Prince Albert Police Service, RCMP, Regina Police Service, and the Saskatoon Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
