Prince Albert Police are aware of a video on Facebook showing two members of the police service responding to a call outside a local business the evening of Friday, June 26. Police were called to the 200 Block of 32nd Street West for a report of a man attempting to fight multiple people in the area just before 8 p.m.

The video posted to social media shows police detaining two males outside the business. In the video, one man is shown being taken to the ground by a member of the Prince Albert Police Service.

The physical takedown seen in the video is a technique members are trained to use in the course of their work as police officers. The appropriateness of the technique in this specific situation will be discussed at a meeting Tuesday afternoon between the Prince Albert Police Service and the Prince Albert Grand Council.

The Prince Albert Police Service is transparent and accountable to the public and welcomes the opportunity for further discussion about police response.
