Emergency: The Prince Albert Police Service’s Integrated Crime Reduction Team (ICRT) continues to see results as members work to tackle gun violence and gang activity in our community.
It’s been nearly a year since an Integrated Crime Reduction Team (ICRT) was announced for Prince Albert with funding from the provincial Ministry of Corrections and Policing. The ICRT includes nine members from both the Prince Albert Police Service and the Saskatchewan RCMP working on a mandate of more targeted enforcement of street gangs and gun violence.
The Prince Albert ICRT uses intelligence and data to direct police resources to specific public safety initiatives aimed at tackling gangs, guns and violence.
ICRT also supports the work of the Prince Albert Police Service’s Street Enforcement Team (SET), which is an enhanced investigative unit focused primarily on illegal drug activity, as well as guns and gangs.
“ICRT members have their fingers on the pulse of the community and are out there focused on gangs and violent offenders in order to protect the public,” said Prince Albert Police Inspector Brent McDonald.
“These are highly-motivated, specialized officers who target those individuals and groups who pose the greatest risk to community safety.”
Crime Reduction Teams are a result of the Provincial Gang Violence Reduction Strategy to address the increase of gang and firearm-related crimes.
