Media Release – ICE Unit Investigation Results in Arrest of Moose Jaw Resident

The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit has charged a Moose Jaw man with child pornography offences in relation to an investigation into the online accessing of child pornography through a popular online social media application. On March 16th, 2021, members of the Moose Jaw Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence in Moose Jaw that was identified as the location where the offences were occurring.

Several electronic devices were seized for further forensic analysis. Evidence was located on the devices.

James SWAGIERCZAK, age 32, of Moose Jaw was arrested Wednesday and has been charged with;

Possession of Child Pornography – Sec. 163.1 (4) C.C.

Share/Make Available Child Pornography Sec. 163.1(3) C.C.

He was released on an Undertaking in Moose Jaw with several conditions. including not to possess or access devices that connect to the internet and no contact with any person under 16. He will be appearing in Provincial Court November 8, 2021.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of the Provincial Coordinator S/Sgt. Shawn Stubbs and investigators from Prince Albert Police Service, RCMP, Regina Police Service, and the Saskatoon Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
