Prince Albert Police Service had a busy weekend responding to 229 calls for service and making 61 arrests. Twenty-four of the 61 arrests were made on people for being intoxicated in a public place. The top two calls for service were intoxicated persons (42) and disturbances (30).
File # 2019-4391 / Impaired Driving
On February 16, 2019 at approximately 3:00 a.m., patrol officers observed a car travelling Southbound on 9th Avenue West swerving into the oncoming traffic lane. Officers conducted a traffic stop and after further investigation arrested a lone male driver for impaired driving.
A 47-year-old male from Pinehouse is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and refusing to provide a breath sample (Info # 991081700). The accused will make their first court appearance on February 27, 2019.
File # 2019-4418 / Recovered Stolen Auto
On February 16, 2019 just after 12:00 p.m., patrol officers attended to the area of the 900 Block of 21 Street West. The owners of a stolen Jeep had observed persons unknown driving in the stolen vehicle. Officers immediately attended the area. A patrol officer observed two males walking in the 300 Block of 19th Street West and approached them. The males were out of breath and unable to provide police identification. The males were detained for investigation and confirm their identity. After further investigation by police, the two suspects were confirmed to be driving the stolen Jeep.
Police in the 400 Block of 18 Street West located the stolen Jeep.
A 29-year-old male from MacDowall is charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of stolen property (Info # 991081729).
A 21-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle (Info # 991081730).
Both accused will make their first court appearance in Provincial Court on Tuesday.
File # 2019-4489 / Evade Police
On February 16, 2019 at approximately 11:40 p.m., police observed a stolen van travelling in the 800 Block of 28 Street West. Police followed the van without emergency lights on and observed the stolen van pull into a driveway at a residence on Laurier Drive. Police turned on their emergency lights once the vehicle came to a stop on the driveway. The stolen van suddenly reversed out of the driveway striking the patrol vehicle and failing to stop for police.
The stolen van turned onto 6th Avenue West, then East in the back alley, then South on 4th Avenue West, East on Marquis Road and pulled into the parking lot of the Prince Albert Inn. The van came to a stop in the North East corner of the parking lot where the driver fled on foot. Police Service Dog Febee was deployed and assisted police in apprehending the suspect.
A 37-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, evading police, operation of a motor vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public and assaulting a police officer (Info # 991081754). The accused will make their first court appearance on Tuesday.
