On the afternoon of Friday, October 16, 2020, the Prince Albert Police Service was notified that a member of the police service has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The officer has been isolating at home since Monday, October 12, 2020 and is following all recommended guidelines from the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
The Prince Albert Police Service is cooperating with a contact tracing investigation currently underway by the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The police service continues to adhere to recommended health guidelines, and will be taking steps to sanitize and disinfect both police locations over the weekend.
The Prince Albert Police Service will continue to work closely with the Saskatchewan Health Authority on contact tracing and will continue to keep the public informed. The identity of the member affected, however, will not be released to the public to protect the member’s privacy and further health updates will not be provided.
The Prince Albert Police Service remains committed to public safety, and will continue to work to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while also responding to emergencies and calls for service around the clock in a timely manner.
As an organization, the Prince Albert Police Service remains vigilant in our efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including enhanced cleaning protocols of our buildings, police cars, and detention areas. Members of the public may see officers in the community wearing masks and gloves as part of additional efforts to protect against the virus.
Members of the public requesting police assistance can expect to be asked whether they have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or if they are ill or showing symptoms of the virus.
