The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit has charged a Saskatoon man with child pornography offences in relation to an investigation into the online accessing of child pornography through a popular online social media application. On November 10, members of the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Saskatoon that was identified as the location where the offences were occurring. Several electronic devices were seized for further forensic analysis.
On February 4, Gregory Spurgeon, age 49 from Saskatoon was arrested and has been charged with;
Possession of Child Pornography – Sec. 163.1 (4) C.C.
Make Child Pornography – Sec. 163.1 (2) C.C.
He was released from Saskatoon by a Justice of the Peace on numerous conditions.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of the Provincial Coordinator S/Sgt. Shawn Stubbs and investigators from Prince Albert Police Service, RCMP, Regina Police Service, and the Saskatoon Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
