Just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, members were dispatched to a residence in the 700 Block of 28th Street East for a complaint of a disturbance involving an aggressive male who was causing damage to a residence.
When police arrived, the man was attempting to fight another man and was assaultive toward a woman in the residence. Officers attempted to calm the man down, but he ignored police commands and began to demonstrate assaultive behaviour toward police members.
In response to the man’s behaviour, police deployed a Conductive Energy Weapon (CEW), however, the man continued to resist. Officers were able to gain control over the man after a CEW was deployed a second time, and he was safely placed into custody.
Charges of assault, wilful damage, and resisting arrest are pending against a 26-year-old man in relation to this incident.
