On July 14, 2018, at 5:05 p.m. Melfort RCMP received a report of human remains discovered along the North Saskatchewan riverbank near James Smith Cree Nation. Evidence collected at the scene by the RCMP was sent to Saskatoon for examination by a forensic pathologist and forensic anthropologist. The Prince Albert River Runners launched today on their annual canoe trip. The three-day, two-night voyage begins on the North Saskatchewan River at Fort Carlton and ends in Prince Albert. The program involves around 20 youth between the ages of 13-18 who are partnered with adult chaperones including several members of the Prince Albert Police Service.
