This was the incident where the SWAT team was deployed due to the firearm (that turned out to be the replica paintball gun) being pointed at the door-to-door vendor. The accused in this matter, 23 year-old Michael DYCK of Prince Albert has made his first appearance in Court. He has been released on an Undertaking, and is scheduled to appear again on March 10th at 1:30pm

On February 16th at approximately 10:00am, a complaint was received by the Prince Albert Police Service of a firearm being pointed at a door-to-door solicitor by a homeowner in the 300 block of 13th Street East. The Prince Albert Police Service was pleased to have been invited to assist in the judging of the Royal Purple ‘Healthy Choices’ campaign last Thursday, February 11th. Posters, poems and video presentations from grades 4 through grade 10 students were carefully examined. The judges were all very impressed with the quality of work of the students, and pleased with the positive message of choosing healthy lifestyles these projects conveyed. All agreed it was a very difficult task to choose one over another, and asked that we salute each of these young citizens of Prince Albert for a job very well done!

Prince Albert Police Service responded to 169 calls for service over the weekend, Friday February 12th at 6:00 p.m. to Sunday February 14th at 4:40 p.m. Over this time period police arrested 34 people, 16 of which were for being intoxicated in a public place.
